Janet Cothern Zelden's Obituary
Ruby Janet Cothern Zelden, of Mandeville, LA passed away on September 26, 2017 at the age of 76. She was born on April 12, 1941 in New Orleans, LA to John Toy Cothern and Luna Renfroe Cothern. She is preceded in death by her brothers Harold Cothern, James Cothern and Glenn Cothern.
Janet was married to the late Joel G. Zelden and is mother to Tracey Zelden, Holly Zelden Watson (Jack), Matthew Zelden (Gina) and the late Greg Zelden (Deonne). She will be missed by her grandchildren Alexandra, Beth, Samantha, Merrick, Olivia, Abby, Trent, Troy, Bridget, David and Avery.
Janet was raised in New Orleans and graduated from Fortier High School, LSU and Loyola University. She enjoyed a fulfilling career with the Jefferson Parish School System as a teacher and principal at Bridgedale Elementary. Her greatest honor was being wife, mother and Grammy to her beloved family.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 4:00pm.
Visiting hours on Sunday will begin at 2pm.
