Jan Duris' Obituary
Jan Duris passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at the age of 91. He was born on September 19, 1931 in Vrbovce, Slovakia to the late John Duris and Anna Hores Duris.
Jan was the beloved husband of the late Helen Fortmuller Duris. He was the loving father of Debbie Robinson (Wayne), Belinda Barker (John), Anthony Duris, and the late Peter Duris. Jan was the proud grandfather of Rebecca, Adam (Vanessa), Luke (Hollie), Kathryn (Charlie), Daniel, Matthew (Rachael), Wesley, Robert (Phoebe), Hannah, Spencer, and Noah; great-grandfather of Isabella, Logan, Giovanna, and John Oliver. He was the brother of the late Anne Brodsky.
Jan served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was also stationed at Ft. Myer assigned to the 3rd Infantry, traditionally known as “The Old Guard”. It is the Army’s official ceremonial unit and escort to the president. Soldiers of The Old Guard maintain a 24-hour vigil at the Tomb of the Unknowns. Jan was a member of Mandeville Christian Church, Mandeville, LA.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time.
