Obit for: James Frederick Wilcox
James Frederick “Fred” Wilcox was born March 19, 1925 to Elmer and Addie Wilcox, and passed away at his home in Covington, Louisiana on June 25, 2013. He was pre-deceased by his wife Florence, and siblings Louise, Jack and “Junie”. Fred is survived by his three children, Kathryn (and Dennis) Painter, Jan (and Kris) Johnson, and David (and Debbie) Johnson. “Pa” was most importantly the proud grandfather of fifteen grandchildren and twenty-one great grandchildren. He is also survived by nephews and nieces Lisa Wilcox Pelletier, John (and Jodie) Wilcox, Gary (and Donna) Baylor and Robert (and Lisa) Baylor, as well as caring friends nearby.
Fred grew up in Connecticut, joined the U.S. Navy at eighteen, and served in the South Pacific in WWII as a medic. He later graduated from the University of Connecticut and made his career as a geophysicist, retiring from Texaco in 1985. He was a longtime member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Mandeville.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a funeral service at 4:00 PM on Thursday, June 27, 2013 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation will begin Thursday at 3:00 PM.
Burial and memorial services will take place in Brookville, PA on July 13th.
