On October 8, 1981 I entered Lakeside Hospital on a stretcher almost dead from the disease of alcoholism. I will celebrate 26 years of sobriety this October and I am so grateful to Dr. Simpson and the wonderful program he created at Lakeside. It truly gave me back my life. I came to work at Lakeside in 1985, went to school for a Master's Degree and eventually became the Director of Clinical Services. That is such a miracle and Dr. Simpson was a big part of that miracle. He was certainly one of God's greatest gifts to so many alcoholics and addicts. My deepest sympathy to all of you. Dear Helen and Family, I am so greatful for the opportunity to have been touched by the life of Bill. It was many years ago at Methodist Outreach when I was a new counselor in the A/D field. Bill was a great influence in my learning process, as were you Helen in teaching me about families. I send my deepest sympathy and want the family to know that I am still in the recovery field and I often refer to "Dr. Simpson" for the example he set for me when working with the patients at Lakeside.
