Our deepest sympathies to all of Big Jim's family. Mr. Magee was the best neighbor one could have and we were blessed to have the Magee family as our Beau Chene neighbors for many years. Our children loved him and Brenda and Mr. Magee discussed flowers, plants and worked on their respective yards all of the time. He was always happy, funny and loving. He will be missed!

The first time we met Jim was in 1975 at the office of the Earnest Corporation in Kenner where we were meeting with Byron Brumfield to design our homes in Beau Chene. Thus, a friendship began over 45 years ago. He was always interested in the lives of our two daughters, asking about them and their children. More than just golf, his caring personality bound us together, along with the fun times on the links. He was the last of the "Fab Four" (Joe Harlan, John Batterton and Dick Jennings) in the pioneer days of Beau Chene. It is impossible to name all of the kids that he entertained as our own Beau Chene Santa Claus and Easter Bunny over the decades. We share with his family the grief of his death but the assurance that he will be reunited with the love of his life, Kathleen. We give thanks that he was part of our journey through life.

My sincere condolences on the death of Jim. He and I worked together for 5 years on Tchapitoulas Street. He was a strong but fair man. Jim and I didn’t see eye to eye on many things, but I always respected him and his allegiance to his employers.
I admired him for his love of family and for his passion for golf. After we parted ways in 1990, we both lived in Beau Chene, I would see see him and his dog riding in his golf cart, we would stop and chat. He was a good man.
Jimmy, I am indeed sorry for your loss.
