James Michael Hampton Sr.'s Obituary
James Michael Hampton Sr., at the age of 72, entered eternal rest peacefully on Monday morning, April 17, 2023, at Passages Hospice surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Gainesville, Texas on January 7, 1951, to Homer Hampton and Leota Bean Hampton.
He is survived by his loving wife Rose Mays Hampton of 39 years, his children James Michael Hampton Jr. ( Brittany), Michelle Hampton Wanner (Victor), and Christopher Michael Hampton (Bridgette). James was the proud grandfather of eight grandchildren. He was the caring sibling of Sherry Baker and Connie Bullard. He will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents Homer and Leota Hampton, and his aunt Sue Mitchell.
A native of Gainesville and proud resident of Mandeville for over 28 years, James graduated from Castleberry High School, in 1969. On February 27, 1969, James proudly joined the United States Navy, and received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Award, Vietnam Service Medal, and Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy, James began his professional career as Contract Specialist for the Department of Energy for over 34 years.
James was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time outdoors/indoors fishing, planting flowers working on his garden James had a green thumb. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. James was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His jovial spirit and tender nature
will remain in the many memoirs of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
