James J. Grogan's Obituary
James "Jim" J. Grogan passed away on Sunday, December 14, 2008.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Martha Bivona Grogan; father of Barbara Grogan and Kathleen Grogan Tyrney and her husband Billy; grandfather to Christina Stanga Jerde and her husband Collin; and great-grandfather to Brittnee Stanga. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lola Bishop Grogan; his father, John Grogan.
Age 84 years, he was a native of Birmingham, AL and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 58 years. Jim served honorably in the United States Navy during World War II. For many years, he served as the Volunteer Fire Chief for the Covington Fire Department. He was instrumental in the conversion of the Covington Fire Department from a volunteer department to a paid department.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of Christian Burial on Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM at the Chapel of E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until service time.
Interment will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
