James Joseph Gleason, III's Obituary
James Joseph Gleason, III passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2009 at Ochsner Foundation Hospital in New Orleans, LA.
Beloved husband of Terry Leonard Gleason; loving father to James Joseph Gleason, IV, Shane Patrick Gleason and his wife Casey, Benjamin John Gleason and his partner Darrell Gill, Jason Scott Gleason, and Luke Daniel Gleason and his fiancée Bethany Porter; grandfather of Callie Erin Gleason, Lyric Rahyne Gleason, Alexandria Galadriel Gleason, Quinn Patrick Gleason, Garrett Masters Gleason and Kelly Ann Faris Gleason; brother to Terrence Hughes Gleason and his wife Helen, and Daniel Shane Gleason and his wife Chris. He was preceded in death by his mother, Naomi Hughes Gleason, and his father, James Joseph Gleason, Jr.
Age 73 years, he was a native of Endicott, NY and a resident of Mandeville, LA for the past 36 years. An avid golfer, he served the City of Mandeville as City Judge for many years and was Councilman from 1980 to 1998. He served the St. Tammany Parish District Attorney’s Office as an assistant, and was a Magistrate for the 22nd Judicial District Court since 1998. He developed and was the first director of the Public Defenders Office of the 22nd Judicial District Court.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, February 19, 2009 at 2:00 PM from St. Joseph’s Abbey, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, LA 70457.
A wake will be held on Wednesday, February 18, 2009, from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home Inc., 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. Visitation will continue AT THE CHURCH on Thursday, February 19, 2009 beginning at 12:30 PM and continue until service time.
Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Abbey Cemetery.
A reception for family and friends will follow graveside services at Beau Chene Country Club, 602 North Beau Chene Drive, Mandeville, LA 70471.
