James Barton deBoisblanc's Obituary
James Barton deBoisblanc was born in New Orleans, LA on July 29, 1926, the first child of James Louis deBoisblanc and Meryl Margaret DeRussy.
Jim attended Loyola University and pursued a graduate degree in psychology at LSU. This was followed by a diverse career in marketing and education.
When his first grandchild was diagnosed with autism, Jim turned to his former teachers at LSU for help. He then co-founded LAFITE (Louisiana Families of Autistic Children).
Jim loved sailing and cooking and was never happier as when having a tiller in one hand and a spatula in the other. He authored the Galley Gourmet for many years. He was aggressive on the race course and owned and competed on a number of classes of boats during his lifetime. During his tenure at Rush Creek Yacht Club in Heath, Texas he earned the title “Cock of the Walk.”
In his later years at Christwood, Jim cofounded the Christwood Players. This entertainment ensemble continues to bring pleasure to residents and staff. His performance as Madam Pavlova, complete in a pink tutu, will never be forgotten.
Thanks to Jim, the deBoisblanc family continues a tradition of Thanksgiving family reunions begun by him in Heath, Texas in 1977.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Mary Ann Pecot deBoisblanc; his brothers, Michael, Robert, and Charles Wright “Pete” deBoisblanc.
Jim is survived by his son, Bart and a daughter, Anna Lisa deBoisblanc both of Dallas, Texas. He is also survived by his sisters, Penny deBoisblanc Daigle, Suzanne deBoisblanc Tyler and a brother Dr. Ben deBoisblanc (Barbara).
Special praise must be given to the love of his life, his surviving spouse Evelyn without whom there would have not been so much fun and joy. Together they were an inspiration to all who knew them.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Memorial Service at the Historic Chapel of Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Please Share a Memory on the Tribute Wall at www.ejfieldingfh.com.
