James Robert Cruikshanks' Obituary
James Robert Cruikshanks passed away on Friday, September 4, 2015 in Abita Springs, LA. He was born on February 8, 1931 in Wallback, WV to the late Luther H. Cruikshanks and Willa Rogers Cruikshanks.
Bob was married to his beloved wife, Gayle Palmer Cruikshanks, for 31years. He was the loving father of Jeanette Miller (Steve), Mike Cruikshanks, Lisa Castleberry (William), the late Rhonda Ann Cruikshanks, Lisa Pettit Taylor (Robert). Bob was the brother of Ralph Cruikshanks, Paul Cruikshanks, the late Bennie Cruikshanks, John Cruikshanks, Clifton Cruikshanks, Harold Cruikshanks, Charles Cruikshanks, Margie Jarvis, Sharon Elswick, Kate Mishlan, and Gloria Ann Cruikshanks.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After his service, Bob began his career as an inspector in the aerospace industry at Convair. He then worked for McDonald-Douglas in California and moved to Louisiana in 1973 to work for Rockwell International and retired from Rocketdyne. After his retirement, Bob became a thoroughbred horse trainer in Folsom, LA. He was a proud member of American Legion Post #16.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Service at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 12, 2015 at 11:00 AM with visitation from 9:00 AM until service time. A WAKE will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM and on Saturday from 9:00 AM until service time.
