James Harold Chambers' Obituary
James Harold Chambers Sr., a native of Chalkville, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 10, 2023, at the age of 78. He was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on January 10, 1945, to Mattie Lou Calhoun and James Felix Chambers.
He is survived by his children, James H. Chambers, Jr. (Stephanie) Kenneth W. Chambers (Melissa), Paige Chambers, Susan R. Skinner (Chip); his grandchildren, Mark Allen Soden, Corinne Chambers, Brooke Brown (Landon), Grace Chambers, Maxwell Chambers (Sadie), Emily Drake (William), Spence Gremillion, Kyle Skinner (Deborah), Corey Skinner; and his 7 great-grandchildren, Luca, Rosalie, Sebastian, Bradley, Adele, Mikylie and Kayleigh. He is also survived by his sister, Sue Long, and nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Jacquelyn Taylor Chambers. He was an avid and dedicated father and grandfather.
Harold spent two years in the U.S. Army and proudly served in combat in Vietnam. He went on to work for the Union Pacific Railroad, which was his lifelong career, retiring after 20 years of service.
Harold was loving, compassionate, and most of all a very caring person to all. He enjoyed spending time outdoors working on cars and gardening. However, his true passion was spending time with his loving family and friends. Harold was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His kind spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memoires of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
