James Hobson Calmes' Obituary
James Hobson Calmes, at the age of 73, entered eternal rest peacefully on Saturday afternoon, June 3, 2023, at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Hammond, Louisiana on January 9, 1950, to William Arthur Graves Calmes and Francis Adelia Davis Calmes.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Graham Calmes; and his adoring children Daniel Calmes, Lauren Calmes Zito (Jason), and Ellen Calmes Cruz. James was the proud grandfather of Julie Anne, Beaux, and Lana Calmes; Kinsley Cruz; and Keaton and Kara Zito. He was the caring sibling of William R. Calmes (Dottie), William Arthur “Speck” Calmes, Gail Calmes Arnone (Tony), Ronnie Calmes, Dennis Calmes (Carol), Corliss Calmes Thorn (Carl), and Gary Calmes. James will be dearly missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents William and Francis Calmes, and brothers William R. Calmes and Speck Calmes.
A native of Hammond, and proud resident of Madisonville for over 40 years, James graduated from Hammond High School. He was a Self-Employed Flooring Contractor for 32 years.
He enjoyed spending time watching sports and playing with his grandchildren. James will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him. His jovial spirit will remain in the many memories of his cherished friends and family until they meet him again.
