James Edmund Burke, Jr.'s Obituary
James Edmund Burke, Jr. passed away on November 23, 2009. A resident of Covington since 1972, he was born in Birmingham, AL on March 20, 1921 to the late James E., Sr. and Hattie Isabel Burke.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 37 years, Georgyee Johnson Burke; two daughters, Elizabeth B. Chifani and Anne B. Watson; one son, James E. Burke, III; two step-sons, Harold K. and J. Stuart Watson; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pearl Brookfield Burke and his sister, Catherine B. Mudge.
Jim was a veteran of WW II having served the Marine Corps in the pacific theatre and was a dedicated parishioner at Christ Episcopal Church in Covington.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend memorial services from the Garden Room at Christwood, 100 Christwood Blvd., Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at 2:00 PM.
Private committal services were held at Garden of the Pines Cemetery in Covington.
