James Henry Burkart's Obituary
James Henry Burkart passed away on Tuesday May 19, 2009.
Beloved husband of 25 years to Barbara Jacques Burkart; loving father to Catherine Johnson and her husband Lyle, David Burkart and his wife Christina and Mariea Sweitzer and her husband Paul; grandfather of E.J., David J., James, David S., Theresa, Jonathan and John-David; great-grandfather to Christine, Charley, Cheyenne, Natalie and Jesse; and brother to John Burkart, Louis Burkart and Frank Burkart. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Nathalie O’Donnell Burkart; his daughter, Cynthia B. Snyder; his son, James Malloy Burkart; his mother, Grace Malloy Burkart; and his father, Louis Burkart.
Age 76 years, he was a native of New Orleans, LA and a resident of Covington, LA for the past 15 years. A United States Army Veteran, he attained the rank of Major. He was a Steamship Agency Executive, having worked for Dalton Steamship and E.S. Binnings Steamship Agencies.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend a Celebration of the Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, May 22, 2009 at 1:30 PM at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 East 19th Avenue, Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation AT THE CHURCH will begin at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Abbey Cemetery.
