J. Merle Holmes Dale's Obituary
Jessie Merle Holmes Dale, age 93, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 11, 2007.
She was born in Tylertown, MS to the late Marcus Lafayette and Myrtie Lee Holmes and was the beloved wife of the late William Lawrence Dale; mother of Larry Dale, his wife Connie of Mableton, GA, Jeanie Dale Boggs, Linda Dale Kennedy and her husband Kurt of Maumelle, AR; sister of Marcus L. Homes, Jr. and Hazel H. Barnes of Columbia, MS. She is also survived by five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
Merle was a talented “beautician” in Columbia, MS before moving to New Orleans, LA where she joined Carrollton Avenue Baptist Church and began working for World Book selling their educational products. In 1961, she moved her family to Covington and continued in the role of educating the youth of this area by teaching Sunday School at First Baptist Church. She also became Area Manager for World Book, a position she kept and was rewarded by for many years.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services on Monday, August 13, 2007 at 11:00 AM from the First Baptist Church of Covington, 16333 Hwy 1085, Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation will begin at the Church at 9:30 AM.
Interment at Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia, MS will follow Services.
E.J. Fielding Funeral Home of Covington has been entrusted with arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Covington.
