Iris Serpas Spear's Obituary
Iris Serpas Spear passed away on November 12, 2014 in Georgiana, AL. She was born on April 8, 1935 in New Orleans, LA to the late Ralph Serpas and Mary Zahn Serpas.
Iris was married to her beloved husband, the late Salvador Stephen Spear, for 49 years and together they had two children, Susan S. Johnson (James Michael Johnson) and Stephen R. Spear (Diannah S. Spear). She was the sister of Merrill S. Ferguson, Ralph Serpas, Bob Serpas, Lewis Serpas, and the late Mary Serpas Walsh. Iris was the beloved grandmother of Michelle Johnson, Danielle Spear, Jessica Spear and the late Jason Spear.
Iris was a school teacher for 20 years at Resurrection School. She was passionate about education and enjoyed teaching her students. She loved to spend time with her family and cherished her grandchildren tremendously.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433, at 9:30 AM. A Wake will be held on Friday, November 14, 2014 at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. Visitation before Mass on Saturday will be from 8:30 AM until service time. Interment will follow the Mass at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens, Covington, LA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, www.alzfdn.org, or the American Diabetes Association, www.diabetes.org.
