Inez Clairain Hanson's Obituary
Inez Valerie Clairain Hanson passed away peacefully Sunday, November 2, 2014 at her home in Abita Springs, Louisiana. She was 95 years old.
Ms. Hanson was native of Abita Springs. She was a proud founding member of the Abita Ladies Progressive Club, member of the Abita Springs Garden Club, former member of the Town of Abita Springs Historic Commission and Planning and Zoning Commission. Ms. Hanson was the first woman ever elected to the Board of Alderman for the Town of Abita Springs and served 5 years as a councilwoman, also serving as Mayor Pro Tem.
She was the daughter of the late Walter Clairain and Edith (Jennie) Virginia Davis Clairain of Abita Springs. Ms. Hanson was the wife of the late Joseph A. Hanson for 53 years and the mother of JoAnn Inez Hanson.
Ms. Hanson was the sister of the late Lucille Clairain Hanson (Harold), Mrs. Elsie Clairain (Lyman), the late Earl Clairain, Sr., (Sophie) and Ellis Clairain, Sr., (Ethel).
She leaves behind many nieces and nephews that she cared about dearly.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to the wake E.J. Fielding Home, Covington, Louisiana, Tuesday, November 4, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00a.m. The funeral will follow immediately after in Abita Cemetery #1 in Abita Springs, LA.
