I was appalled by the horrible death of Ileana. She was a very creative person full of unrecognized talent and I was very sad to hear of her death. I always wondered why she was so lonely when she had so much to give. The last time I heard from her, she was looking for an apartment to rent uptown. I enjoyed knowing her and I hope that her spirit is flowing free of worries wherever she is. May she rest in peace close to God.

Ileana & I have been in contact with one another since Jan, speaking 2-3x per week. I am deeply upset over her unfortunate demise, for we probably spoke last 2-5 days prior to her end. I know she is in a better place & free of all her misery. She is in my prayers and the family as well. May God comfort all of you during these trying times. God bless all of you. I hope you can find someone to finish the last piece she was working on, for this would please her immensely. It would also mean all her hard work was not for nought.
Pio I'm so sorry for your loss. You are in our thoughts & prayers. Kerner
I am so sorry to hear of the tragic death of Ileana. She called me back in April and that was the last time I spoke with her. We were classmates at Mercy and Holy Name.

Here is a favorite poem of mine.
The Ship
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength, and I stand and watch until at last she hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come down to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says, 'There she goes!'
Gone where?
Gone from my sight ... That is all.
She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and just as able to bear her load of living freight to the place of destination. Her diminished size is in me, not in her.
And just at the moment when someone at my side says, 'There she goes!' there are other eyes watching her coming and their voices ready to take up the glad shouts 'Here she comes!'
And that is dying. Henry van Dyke
God bless. Daphne
I knew Ileana through the art world and admired her work. This is a terrible end to her life and my condolences go out to her family.
