Hugh C. Blair's Obituary
Hugh Chamberlin Blair, beloved husband, loving father and grandfather, was born in Plaquemine, LA on March 26, 1923 and passed away at home in Covington on June 27, 2009.
Preceded in death by his wife Irene Picket Blair, he is survived by one son, Hugh Chamberlin Blair, Jr.; one daughter, Susan Blair Medley and three grandchildren: Thomas Lewis, Sarah Medley and Amelia Medley. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Blair Parramore and one brother, Edwin Albro Blair. He was preceded in death by his brother Arthur Blair and two sisters, Helen Diltz and Marguerite Mouton.
Mr. Blair was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII , attended Grinnell University and graduated from LSU with a degree in Electrical Engineering. He worked for Allis Chalmers in various sales and management positions until 1972 when he formed his own company in Baton Rouge.
He retired to Covington where he grew up and was active in Christ Episcopal Church. He was also an avid fisherman and traveled extensively.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend funeral services at 12:30 PM on Sunday, July 5, 2009 from Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433.
Visitation in the historic chapel will begin at 11:30 AM.
Interment at Garden District Cemetery will follow services.
