Huey Clyde Thompson's Obituary
Huey Clyde Thompson, 83, passed away on September 20, 2011.
A lifelong resident of Folsom, LA, he was born on October 18, 1927 to the late David and Geneva Willie Thompson.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, JoAnn McLain Thompson; two children, Stacey Thompson Courtney (Wade) and Mark Evan Thompson (Michele); one sister, Jeanette T. Davis; five grandchildren, Jason and Sarah Courtney, and John, Drew and Geneva Thompson.
He was preceded in death by six brothers, Guy, Alvin, Virgil, Hezzie, Elzie and Emmett Thompson and one sister, Mavis Thompson.
Huey was a Korean War Veteran. He was a carpenter by trade and retired from the St. Tammany Parish School Board. He was an all-around athlete who enjoyed playing baseball, basketball and football through high school (Covington) and into his adult years. After his playing years he continued as an avid fan of Covington High School sports. Huey was a lifelong member of Bogue Falaya Baptist Church in Folsom where he served as a deacon. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.
Friends and family are invited to attend the funeral service at Bogue Falaya Baptist Church, 14278 Hwy 1077, Folsom, LA 70437 on Friday, September 23, 2011 at 11:00 AM with visitation on Thursday evening at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM and at church on Friday from 10:00 AM until service time.
Interment will follow at the Bogue Falaya Baptist Church cemetery.
