Horace James Brumfield's Obituary
Horace James Brumfield, a retired Foreman at Avondale Shipyard, died at his home in Lewisburg on Monday, December 17, 2007 at the age of 90 years old. Mr. Brumfield’s family settled in Lewisburg in the mid 1800’s. As the oldest native of Lewisburg, his passing is the end of an era for this once sleepy lakeshore village. He was a U.S. Army veteran in the WWII era.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Audrey Glass Brumfield, his brother Joseph David Brumfield and his sister Ursula Brumfield Tamplain of San Diego, CA. He is survived by his sister, Genevieve Brumfield Brantley.
Horace Brumfield leaves behind his precious family: his daughter Regina Louise Brumfield, his son David James Brumfield and his daughter-in-law Barbara Davis Brumfield as well as eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home at 2260 W. 21st Ave. in Covington from 6 to 9 pm on Wednesday, December 19, 2007. Visitation at Mary Queen of Peace, Catholic Church at 1501West Causeway Approach in Mandeville will begin at 10 am prior to a Funeral Mass at 11 am on Thursday, December 20, 2007. Burial will be in the Garden of Pines Mausoleum in Covington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in honor of Horace Brumfield can be made to Hospice of St. Tammany, 1202 S. Tyler, Covington, LA 70433.
