Taffy, as she was known to all, was born in Saranac Lake, New York, and moved to New Orleans in 1938. She was graduated from Isidore Newman School and attended the Art Institute of Chicago. She was active in theater through the Junior League of New Orleans, Playmakers Theater in Covington, the Star Theater in Mandeville, and in association with Carl Walker and Sheila Bosworth Lemann. For many years she worked as costume coordinator for the School of Design. She was known for her ability to make you laugh until you cried with just one word or a look.
Taffy was the daughter of the late Julius Lane Wilson and Mary Louise Kirk Wilson and the sister of the late Hugh Hamilton Wilson. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Malcolm Gresham Maginnis; her sister, Mary Louise Wilson; her children Malcolm Gresham Maginnis, Jr., Duncan Hugh Maginnis (Ogden Starr), Ruth Maginnis Blum (Richard K.); her grandchildren Kingsley Louise Blum and Wilson Armfield Blum; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral service from Christ Episcopal Chapel, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433 on Wednesday, November 2, 2011 at 11:00 AM. Visitation, AT THE CHURCH, from 10 AM until service time. Graveside service in Metairie Cemetery at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to Playmakers, Inc. Theater in Covington, the American Cancer Society, or the organization of your choice.
