Helen Tranchant Duckworth's Obituary
Helen Tranchant Duckworth passed away on Monday, July 31, 2023 at the age of 93. She was born on April 28, 1930 in New Orleans, LA to the late Robert Leo Tranchant, Sr. and Laura Hough Tranchant.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Frank Duckworth, Sr., Retired Chief Master Sergeant, Louisiana Air National Guard. She loved children, working for many years and retiring from the St. Bernard Parish Courthouse Juvenile Probation Office. Helen was creative and enjoyed painting china pieces and porcelain dolls. She devoted her life to her family and was the loving mother of Patricia Duckworth Hauschild, Linda Duckworth Yokum (Robert Yokum), Retired Major Frank Duckworth, Jr., U.S. Marine Corps (Karen Clement Duckworth), and Mark Duckworth (Hollie Englert Duckworth). Helen was the proud grandmother of Brielle Rubenstein, Brooke Quintana (Steve), Ryan Duckworth (Sheena), Jeremy Duckworth (Kalee), Jeffrey Duckworth, Blake Duckworth, Demi Hauschild, and her 10 great grandchildren: Holden, Gryffin, and Emma Rubenstein, Ava and Peyton Quintana, Peyton Bejarano, Averie and Sawyer Duckworth, and Rylie and Tatum Hanneman. She was the sister of Robert Tranchant, Jr. (Gloria, deceased), Barbara Tranchant Gaudin (Errol) and her late siblings: William “Billy” Tranchant, Richard Tranchant (Beverly), Mildred Tranchant Swift (William), Marian Tranchant Huber (Randall), George Tranchant, Charles “Butch” Tranchant (Soledad, surviving). Helen is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to an Evening Wake on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave., Covington, LA 70433 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 125 E. 19th Ave., Covington, LA 70433 on Friday, August 11, 2023. Visitation at the church from 11:00 AM until the start of Mass at Noon. Interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery, Gulfport, MS at a later date.
The family is very grateful for the support and care given by Passages Hospice. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Northshore Humane Society, 20384 Harrison Ave., Covington, LA 70433.
