I'll always remember Mrs. Hazel's generous laugh and generous heart. She was always good for an interesting story or bit of history. She cared deeply for Terry ever since the day she was born. I remember that Mrs. Hazel paid for me to fly Terry back to Washington D.C. (my FIRST plane ride!) when I was about 16 and Terry about 6. Harold & Sylvia were moving into a new apartment and Terry had spent several weeks in Louisiana while they arranged for the move. She also paid for me to escort Terry to Disney World one summer, which was such a treat for me. Terry always was like my "special dolly" and Mrs. Hazel's support of that relationship is one of the reasons that Terry is like my own younger sister or daughter instead of my niece. Harold & Sylvia graciously shared Terry with me (and Dave and my sons).
One of my VERY favorite memories of Mrs. Hazel is celebrating her 93rd birthday at my house in Goodbee with little girl party hats donned by all in attendance (including the Colonel). She had a ball and so did all of us! She told us great stories about her childhood and giggled like a little girl.
Mrs. Hazel, I miss you and I love you. Terry is tucked safely in my heart where she will always remain. Tell Sylvia, the babies, Mr. Harold and Bella & Earl "Hello" from me! Love you & thanks for the chairs!
