I know this is late in posting but I have been out of touch for a few years with health issues. As I look up old friends and memories I ran across this posting.
What an amazing lady! I am an old woman now myself but I still remember with fondness my years growing up across the street from the Smith family in Country Club Estates. The best years of my life! Harriett Smith was the center of those memories.....not only in Covington but Orlando where I was fortunate to visit during the summers and know the Sipple-Smith family...Gammie and Sip....I will never forget them either! Jean Anne and Jimmy and the rest of the crew I will always remember with fondness. The Smith home was the center of our youthful experiences with the hatboxes full of lizards and the kittens that we cared for...and never forgetting the famous brown sugar toast!!
Again, I was blessed to have the opportunity to visit Covington (with my husband and 1st child when we discovered that we were being transferred to New Orleans) and the Smith family. Harriett welcomed us to her new southern home for a visit. It was lovely to catch up and see Jean Anne and her children.
All these years later....Harriett will always be remembered as the most gracious and loving lady that she was.

So sorry for your loss. Mrs. Smith was a kick. I took care of her at the salon. She hardly ever missed her hair appointment. I left the salon a few months ago and started my new career at STPH. I always thought of her and her roller sets each week. She was something else. May she rest in peace with lots of curls and lipstick. Great memories.. Nancy Thorne
So very sorry for your loss. Keeping you all in my thoughts and prayers. She was such a wonderful lady. I know she will be missed by all who knew her.
Hugs to all,

Jean Anne, Jim, Rog, and Meg,
I feel your loss, and I grieve with you.
I visualize your mother now having joyful reunions with your father, with "Gammy" and "Sip," and with Holly and Matthew.
And I imagine that my parents, Ned and Claire Roberts, were on the welcoming committee as your mother walked through the gates of Heaven,
Love,
Mary Anne Roberts
Harriet,
You were my second mother during all those growing-up years on North Drive. You had a truly kind and caring nature, and you were always there to encourage and support me, as well as my sister Leslie and other neighborhood children. You were a role model for us all.
I so looked forward to going over to your house to play with Jean Anne because your loving presence permeated your home. Your house became a gathering place for children up and down the street because of your gentle and giving ways.
Thank you for your profound influence on my life,
Love,
Mary Anne Roberts
We extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to your family. It is with fond memories that I remember Mrs. Smith with her warm heart and winning smile. She was a true
Southern lady with grace and charm. Your mother was a dear friend of my parents
(Dot & George Stokes, Sr.) while we lived in Country Club Estates.
May your find some peace and comfort in knowing your beloved mother was treasured by those that knew her best.
God bless,
The George W. Stokes, Sr.. Family
(George-Ann, Buddy, Chris & Peggy)
