Harold Joseph West's Obituary
Harold Joseph West passed away Friday, March 18, 2011. He was born September 17, 1927 in New Orleans to the late Harold S. and Ida Baudot West and was a resident of Hammond since 1970.
The beloved husband of Mary Louise West for 56 years, he is survived by his daughter, Carla West Dawsey (Thomas); one son, Carey W. West (Vicki); three granddaughters: Kathryn and Elise West, Courtney Dawsey and one grandson, Ryan Dawsey. He was preceded in death by his brother, Earl C. West, Sr.
Harold grew up in Mandeville, LA and was a graduate of St. Paul’s School in Covington, LA. In 1947 he received his Bachelor’s Degree from Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond and later retired from SLU as Director of Administration. Harold was a dedicated parishioner at Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Hammond for many years and within that assembly was of Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. His memory will be cherished as a loving husband, father and grandfather.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 21, 2011 from the chapel at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Ave. Covington, LA 70433. In lieu of flowers, donations to Holy Ghost Catholic Church 601 North Oak St. Hammond,LA 70401 preferred. Visiting hours will begin Monday at 10:00 AM.
Interment at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens in Covington will immediately follow mass.
