Harold A. Martin's Obituary
Harold A. Martin, Jr. passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at the age of 96. Beloved husband of 73 years to Phyllis Martin. Loving father of the late Robert Martin (Donna), Lynne LaRussa (Dennis), and Thomas Martin. Grandfather of Stacy Foster (Frank), Brad Martin and Dennis LaRussa (Ara). Great-grandfather of Margaret Rose Foster and Enzo Foster.
In the 1970's Harold, Phyllis and others started a nationwide network for support, education, advocacy and research known as the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) and in 1984 Harold was a key leader in the creation of the Louisiana Alliance for the Mentally Ill, now NAMI Louisiana and its local affiliates.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Tuesday, October 10, 2017 at 1:00 PM with visitation on Tuesday beginning at 12:00 noon. Private Interment will follow in St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in memory of Mr. Martin to be made to NAMI St. Tammany, Hummingbird Residential Community 23515 Hwy 190. Mandeville, LA 70448. E.J.
