Harold Charles Dufour's Obituary
Harold Charles Dufour passed away Monday, December 13, 2010. He was born March 11, 1939 in New Orleans and was a long time resident of Hammond before re-locating to Covington in 2009.
The beloved husband of Melissa Sexton Dufour, he is survived by three sons: Harold C. Dufour, Jr. (Jennifer), Mark Dufour (Charlotte) and Chris Dufour (Karen); two daughters, Danielle Daigle (Rene’) and Barbara Wright (David); his step-son, Matt Huddleston (Missy) and 10 grandchildren: Dillon and Emma Huddleston, Tyler and Jacob Wright, Rene, Jordan and Gabriel Daigle, Mallorie and Thomas Dufour and Emily Dufour. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.J. and Pearl Gauthier Dufour and sister, Kathleen Dufour DeSilva.
Mr. Dufour was not only a well respected business man in Tangipahoa Parish as the Gulf Oil jobber, but was an involved community member as well. He was a supporter of Southeastern Louisiana University, having graduated from there in 1962 with a Bachelor’s degree in economics and then was chosen as president of the Alumni Association in 1983. He served on the Board of the Richard Murphy Hospice Foundation and was a member of the Hammond Rotary Club. He was a North Oaks Health System Volunteer, an AARP Tax Assistance Volunteer and also gave his time to Civitan.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the memorial services at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr., Mandeville, LA 70471.
Friends may gather at the church Wednesday at 9:00 AM.
