H. Paul Creswell's Obituary
Henry Paul Creswell passed away on Thursday, December 14, 2017 in Covington, LA. He was born on June 9, 1919 in Leroy, LA to the late Henry Pierce Creswell and Edna Landry Creswell.
Paul was married to his beloved wife, the late Ruby Mayfield Creswell, for 71 years. He was the loving father of Brenda M. Creswell, Tim Creswell, and the late H. Paul Creswell, Jr. Paul was the proud grandfather of Ashley C. Stutes (Jason), Kurt M. Nossaman (Katie), and Allison C. Yaworske (Jason). He was the great-grandfather of Adalyn and Landry Stutes. Paul was the brother of Edna Mae Thacker, the late Galbert Broussard, Noah Broussard, Lucille Vincent, Lillian Hebert, Lily Comeaux and Jeanne Duhon. Paul is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by his dear friends, Marilyn Jung and Ruth Ann Rotolo. The family is very thankful for the love and support given by Paul’s caregiver, Herman Caston.
Paul served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II and rose to the rank of Captain. He attended Tulane University in New Orleans and the College of Business Administration at Southwestern University in Lafayette where he obtained his degree. Paul was CEO of Schuylkill Lead Company in the 1950s and 60's working in close affiliation with the company's major customer, Ethel Corporation. After government regulations limited the use of lead additives in gasoline, he started his own merchandise distribution service in Baton Rouge and thereafter, he engaged in commercial property development. The family moved to Covington in 1972, living in a home in Tchefuncte Estates on the banks of the Tchefuncte River. Paul enjoyed fishing, golf, family and comradeship with many, many friends. Paul was a devout Catholic and was a member first, of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Baton Rouge and later, St. Anselm Catholic Church in Madisonville. He was a philanthropist and an active participant in community and political affairs.
Relatives and friends are invited to the Funeral Mass at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st Avenue, Covington, LA 70433 on Monday, December 18, 2017 at 12:00 Noon with visitation from 10:30 AM until service time. Interment will take place the following day, Tuesday, December 19, 2017 at Greenoaks Memorial Park, 9595 Florida Blvd., Baton Rouge, LA 70815 at 11:00 AM.
