Dr. Guy Livingston Murphy, D.D.S.'s Obituary
Dr. Guy Livingston Murphy, D.D.S., born December 13, 1943, departed this world on July 17, 2018 at Lakeview Regional Medical Center. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hermein Rose C. Murphy and John T. Murphy, Sr. He is survived by his beloved wife, Karen P. Murphy and children, Heather M. Jessee, Patrick T. Murphy and Kimberly A. Murphy. Brother to John T. Murphy, Jr. (wife Sondra). and Dennis R. Murphy (wife Connie). Father-in-law to Wade S. Jessee and Tamarah K. Murphy. Grandfather to Hunter C. Jessee, Mason S. Jessee and Callen P. Murphy. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and many close friends.
Dr. Murphy was a graduate of Jesuit High School and Loyola School of Dentistry before serving in the Navy during the Vietnam conflict. He transitioned into private practice in the early 1970’s, where he devoted a great deal of his time and energy to his staff and patients. Dr. Murphy also taught at LSU Dental School. Dr. Murphy was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, cycling and possessed a great passion for boats throughout his life. He was a constant comedian with a contagious laugh. Dr. Murphy always had a joke ready, and never met a stranger. He was loved by all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM on Thursday, July 26, 2018 at St. Timothy United Methodist Church, 335 Asbury Dr. Mandeville, LA 70448 followed by a visitation in the church hall.
