Gloria Schmitt Barr's Obituary
Gloria Schmitt Barr passed away on Friday, November 2, 2018 at the age of 93.
Few could rival Gloria’s generous spirit, love and faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.
Over the years she’s touched so many lives. As a wife, sister and mother, Gloria devoted her life to the needs of others beyond her own. She was the incredible and attentive wife to the late John U. Barr, Jr., sister of Doris Lawrence, mother of 2 sons, David S. Barr and wife Carol, Peter John Barr and wife Kathy, grandmother of 9 children, great grandmother of 6 children, and a friend to many in the Northshore community and preschool teacher to hundreds of children over 50 plus years of ministry. Fondly known to most as Gammy, Gloria has been an outstanding example for her heart of hospitality and gracious attitude towards all. Mom’s body has been laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Johnny, in the Pine Crest Cemetery.
We will be celebrating Gloria’s life this Saturday, November 10, 2018, at New Covenant Presbyterian Church, Mandeville, La Hwy. 22 at 10 a.m. Friends and relatives are invited to join us.
In lieu of flowers she requested that a donation be made to the New Covenant Presbyterian Church Choir. This would bless her lifelong love for singing praises to our Risen Lord.
