Gertraud Katharina (Trudy) Thompson, 86, passed away January 1, 2016. She was born November 14, 1929 in Munich, Germany the daughter of Georg Gruber and Gertraud Bauer. She was married to Marvin Ralph Thompson of Lincoln, Vermont for 64 years.
She retired from the Hartford Insurance Company after 20 years service in Phoenix, Arizona with her husband.
Trudy was pre-deceased by her husband, Marvin R. Thompson of Phoenix, Arizona and Lincoln, Vermont; she is survived by her son Howard Thompson and wife Nancy Thompson of Mandeville, Louisiana; grandsons Jeremiah B. Thompson of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania his wife Julie and their son Connor and Travis E. Thompson of New Orleans, Louisiana and a cousin, Francis Engle of Toronto, Canada.
Trudy was a resident of Phoenix, Arizona for 48 years with her husband Marvin. After her retirement, she was active in the Senior Olympics in the Phoenix area for many years. She loved hiking in the mountains around Phoenix. She moved to Mandeville in 2012 near her son and daughter-in-law for medical reasons.
A private family viewing will be held at E.J. Fielding funeral home, Covington, Louisiana. A funeral service and internment will be in Maple Cemetery, Lincoln, Vermont at a later date.
