George was about three years older then me, we grew up in the same neighborhood, hunted, fished and played together. Always, had by back like a big brother. And no one can ever forget his smile. Love him and will always miss him.
I did not know Mr. Vogel but I do know his wife Marlene Marino. I graduated with Marlene from Francis T. Nicholls High School in 1961. Marlene, so sorry for your loss. Ran into your wedding photo that I cut from the T-P years ago and wondered if you might want me to mail it to you. If you lost everything in Katrina you might be happy to receive the picture. You are in my prayers and thoughts. I can be reached at 504/393-7515 or 504/616-5687.
Sincerely,
Darlene Blakeway Berges
My condolences to Marlene, Kim, George, and Steven. I worked with George for many years at Hunt. He taught me so much about business and his friendship meant so much to me. He will live on in my heart and memories. I am sorry that I cannot be there for the memorial. My wife had surgery and I am caring for her. My thoughts are with each of you.
The only memory I really have is kind of a sellfish one - George and Marlene treated me always as an equal. They (he) always made me feel at home and that I belonged.
George was my first cousin. I'm 3 years older than him. We played together as small children when he lived on Old Gentilly road. We fished and hunted together together when were teenagers and after the years it took to raise our families we renewed our closeness. I will never forget George and he will always be among my fondest memories. Tommy
So many great memories through the years, mainly the food, we always had great crawfish and crab boils if Pops was there. Many sweaty kisses and hugs because he was always over the boiling pots. I'm sure we will have many more boils, but they won't be the same without Pops. Pops you lived a wonderful full life, raised an awesome family, shared your love with so many, now rest in the arms of God, and watch over all of us who love you so much till we are all together for our crawfish boil in heaven.
To your wonderful Mia and children and grandchildren may you all find comfort in knowing Pops is finally at peace. We love you all.
