George was Administration Officer of Heavy Attack Squadron FIVE at NAS Sanford, FL, and on Forrestal in early 1960's when he made CDR rank. I worked for him, he was a good leader who made our work pleasant and doable. I kept in touch over the years, Rest in Peace good friend, and may fair winds always fill your sails. After the 1962-63 Med cruise he went to the Pentagon, I went home to civilian life but he had been a good example for me in working.
I will never forget that when we were little girls, Uncle George brought us all tiny bottles of French perfume, we thought we were in heaven!! He was always thoughtful and ready to help. We love you!

I was humbled when l read Uncle George's obituary. He was an American hero. What an amazing life. God bless you and all your family and friends. I love you all.
I had the best time at the commissioning of Dale's submarine. Uncle George and all the Govan's were in rare form. The jokes and fish stories were were flying around. It was great fun!
