George Andrew de Laune's Obituary
George Andrew de Laune on Thursday, December 13, 2007.
He was born August 31, 1931 to the late Alberta Gahn and George de Laune in Franklin, LA and was a resident of Covington for almost 20 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Eltimae Williams de Laune; two daughters, Deborah Byrd and Debbie Laborde; two sons, William and Kip de Laune; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Mr. de Laune served military active duty with the Louisiana National Guard and following his retirement from the St. Charles Parish Public School system as an electrician, Mr. de Laune volunteered with the St. Charles Parish Search and Rescue, the Tammany Trace and was a member of the St. Benedict Holy Name Society. His charity and generosity to friends, community and his church will be dearly missed and he will be remembered as an amateur archeologist and nature enthusiast.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the funeral mass on Saturday, December 15, 2007 at 11:00 AM from St. Benedict Catholic Church, 20307 Smith Rd., Covington, LA 70435.
Visiting hours will begin at the Church at 9:00 AM.
Interment in will follow mass at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Cemetery in Destrehan, LA.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 1121 S. Tyler St., Covington, LA 70433.
