Gene Russell Lester's Obituary
Gene Russell Lester, age 75, passed away Friday morning, August 27, 2021. He was born on August 31, 1945 in Covington, Louisiana to Louis Lester and Jessie Mae Quave and later adopted by Lee Frederick Hebert and Lillian Lester Hebert.
Gene is survived by his wife, Kathy Lester, his children Lauren Lester Jones (Ernest) and Brandon Lester (Sharon), his step-children Sara Kordahi (Charlie) and Karla "Kim" Poche. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his first wife Gwendolyn Dirr Lester (2010), his son Christopher Lester, his parents Louis Lester and Jessie Mae Quave along with Lee Frederick Hebert and Lillian Lester Hebert, and his brother Lee V. Hebert.
Gene worked in the HVAC & Plumbing industry (Hebert's Plumbing & Heating) with his dad and brothers for a majority of his life. He would use those skills to help friends and family when in need. Gene was a reserved police officer for several years at the Covington Police Department. He was also a long time volunteer fireman at the Covington Fire Department, all of which, he made ever lasting friendships. He was very well liked and respected by all. Gene was a helpful, kind, caring, loving, and loyal person who will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
Due to COVID-19, social distancing is encouraged and masks are required to attend services.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433 on Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 3:00 PM with visitation on September 18, 202 beginning at 1:00 PM until service time. Interment will follow the services in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 2280 W 21st Ave, Covington, LA 70433.
