Gaynell Ann Fatzer's Obituary
Gaynell Ann Collein Fatzer, a native of New Orleans and a resident of Mandeville, passed away on Monday, January 17, 2023, at the age of 82.
She was the daughter of the late Theodore Francis Collein, and the late Marie Theresa Conrad Cain and the wife of the late Christian Robert Fatzer, (Sr.)
She is survived by their children, Christian Robert Fatzer, Jr. (Laura), and Susan Mary Fatzer Marcus, one grandchild, Julianne Morgen Marcus Meyers and two great-grandchildren, Kenneth Christian (K.C.) Meyers and Rohen Pickett, a step-granddaughter, Katie Galiano and one step great-granddaughter, Kaitlyn Galiano.
She is survived by one sister, Patricia Cain Korczack, Thomas (Tommy), and two brothers, Theodore (Ted) Collein (Juanita), and John (JC) Cain III (Brenda).
She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gaynell was a graduate of Nicholls High School, class of 1959. She was a member of the Kopelman’s Rhythm Gliders skating team at Skateland on Charbonnet Street in New Orleans. She worked various contract jobs doing keypunch work, then for Majors Scientific Books for many years and for Sam’s Club in New Orleans East and then in Slidell for many years.
In May of 2021, she suffered from a brain aneurysm from which she never fully recovered. She was kind and sweet and never had an unkind word to say about anyone. She will be missed by all who loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Friday, January 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM until service time. Interment will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
