Gayle Hurd Swords' Obituary
Gayle Hurd Swords, age 88, of Mandeville, Louisiana, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2026. She was born on May 12, 1937, in New Orleans, Louisiana.
She is survived by her children, Stephanie Swords, Kelly Swords, Wendy Swords Stouffer and Cullom S. Swords (Lisa); grandchildren, Michael Swords (Nicole), Sara Fredericks, Ali Fredericks, Heather Stouffer Oliphint (Ben), Claire Stouffer Cowden (Seth), Logan Swords, and Kyle Swords; and daughter-in-law, Ruby Crawford Swords. She is also survived by her sister, Royanne Hurd Blossman; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Cullom “Buster” Swords; children, Michael Hurd “Mike” Swords and Erica Swords; parents, Roy Edward Hurd, Sr. and Anita Vincenet Hurd; and brother, Roy E. Hurd, Jr..

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral services on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 11:00 AM at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 West 21st Avenue, Covington, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:00 AM. Interment will follow in the adjacent Pinecrest Memorial Gardens.
