Gayle Gill Sloan passed away on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at the age of 73. She was preceded in death by her parents, JD Gill and Betty Brock Gill, and her brother, Jimmy D. Gill. She was married to her beloved husband, Cliff Slo Read Obituary
I am forever grateful to Gayle for hiring me at MMS, 31 years ago. She was an amazing leader that guided her staff with wisdom and care. Thankfully she helped our parish survive the after effects of Hurricane Katrina by getting our schools back to work! I will miss her friendship. May her family be comforted knowing she impacted so many lives.

Gayle was a trailblazer in education and a truly “gutsy woman”. I admired her for her true grit, integrity, humility, professionalism and her sincere devotion to the students of St. Tammany Parish. She will be greatly missed. Hopefully her legacy will be a reminder to current educators, administrators and board members to always make the difficult decisions in the best interest of all of our students. Our heart felt sympathy goes to her family.

I met Gayle in 2010 while I was working at the LDOE. She immediately began asking questions about the charms on a bracelet my husband gave me. She loved it and noticed every time I got a new one. She gladly took every opportunity to invest herself and her wisdom into the lives of those around her. She was a champion for public education. She will be so missed.
I met Gayle in 2012 while working at the LDOE. Gayle was so kind to me, took me under her wings, shared her knowledge and wisdom, and escorted me through some bumpy professional roads. Today as an educator in north Louisiana, I continue to hold on to and look for opportunities to share all she taught me. Sending prayers to her family and all who loved her.
Gayle has been a good friend to me for over 65 years from Our Lady of the Lake School and
Mandeville High School to LSU and the School System. We have traveled with the “sisterhood”
to many interesting places from Door County,
Wisconsin, Christmas in Natchitoches, to Laurel and Marigold, Miss. only to name a few.
Gayle was always ready for a road trip which
she planned for us. I will miss those trips with Gayle as she was our guiding light. She was a very special friend always there when we needed her.
I am sure Gayle is planning trips for us now for when we meet again. Luv you and miss you Gayle
