Gayden Walker Robert's Obituary
Gayden Walker Robert , “Walker” died at University Hospital in New Orleans on Tuesday October 23rd, 2018.
Walker was a graduate of NOCCA (New Orleans Center of Creative Arts). He then attended Florida State University, and graduated with a BA in Music from Loyola University of New Orleans.
Walker had a big heart coupled with a complex and beautiful mind. He had an incredible passion for creative pursuits including (but not limited to) writing and performing, discovering, and sharing music. In recent years he also realized a passion for teaching children. It was sometimes hard for us mortals to process his talent, quick wit, and rapid fire intellect.
He is survived by his Wife, Yifan Chen, whose kind and gentle demeanor helped to soothe a sometimes troubled soul. Also survived by his parents, A Gayden Robert Jr and Jan Marie Toca Robert. Also survived by his sister Marguerite Claire “Maggie” Robert. His maternal Grandparents survive him: Melvin Martin Toca and Alice Walker Toca. He is predeceased by his paternal grandparents Agrippa Gayden Robert and Mary Lewis Mayer Robert. Walker is also survived by numerous loving Aunts, Uncles and cousins.
It would be remiss not to include as survivors the wonderful village and tribe of friends who helped to raise him and support our family (you know who you are).
Many thanks to the wonderful Emergency Department and ICU staff at University who saw us through the last few days of Walker’s life. Also thanks to the staff of LOPA (Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency), who helped Walker to live on in the lives of others in a very real way.
Also, a very special thanks to Dr Robert Blanche, who tackled a herculean task with unwavering resolve.
There will be a memorial ceremony on Friday October 26 at 5 PM, at the Columbia Street Landing on the Bogue Falaya river in downtown Covington. As would suit Walker, informality will rule, so dress and act accordingly.
We request no flowers or gifts. If you must, please send a donation to NAMI St Tammany (National Alliance on Mental Illness). PO Box 2055, Mandeville, LA 70470. That would be greatly appreciated.
Peace and love at last to Walker.
