He was a Gulf War Veteran and proudly served his country for 30+ years before retiring. He bravely battled esophageal cancer for 3 years. He loved spending time with family, friends and his beloved four legged companion Rosie. He spent the last year of his life in Covington so he could spend more time with his family, loved ones, and allow Rosie free reign as she transitioned from city to country life. He enjoyed fishing and hunting with his Brother Phil, outings and lunch dates with his daughter Kathleen, Grandson Lucas and his favorite son in law Gary. He also enjoyed many trips all over town with his friend Jean Pujol to shop eat and cut up. He will certainly be missed by many of the local eating establishments where he was known for leaving generous tips even if the service was slow because he felt they worked hard but were under appreciated. He led a humble life. Garland’s motto was “Be kind to everyone because you don’t know what people are going through. We are all Human”. He loved serving God, family and his country and will be gravely missed by all.
