Gail Read Richardson's Obituary
Gail Read Richardson, age 94, of Covington, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, February 15, 2021. She was born on March 11, 1926 in New Orleans, LA to the late Clarence Baldwin Read and the late Olga Favrot Read. She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Joseph Francis Richardson, Sr., her brother, Charles Favrot Read, Sr., and her sisters, Jane Read Schoonmaker and Betty Read Whitten.
Gail is survived by her five children, Michael (Mary), Wm. Read (Pat), Karen Seeley, Peter (Annie), and Joseph, Jr., as well as 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many cousins.
Gail spent most of her life in New Orleans before moving to her family home, also known as Favrotville, in Covington, where she assumed her role as Mother of the Northshore. She graduated from Isidore Newman School and attended Newcomb College, where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She was also a sustaining member of the Junior League of New Orleans. Gail was an avid golfer and never missed her Monday bridge group. She is best known for her love of family and close friends, as well as her lifelong joy of creating unique personalized jewelry, a gift that was passed down to her by her aunt, Tantee, a legacy that will now continue on to the new generation. Her door was always open for conversation, sound advice, a cold drink, and everyone’s favorite, “yum-yums”. Gammie will truly be missed by all that knew and loved her.
A private service will be held by the family. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Inurnment at St Joseph Abbey Cemetery, St Benedict, LA.
