Gail Elaine King Stock's Obituary
Gail Elaine King Stock passed away peacefully in her sleep late in the night of May 21, 2021, with her partner Gordon Serou at her side. Gail’s passing was unanticipated and her family and friends are bereaved, with all wishing they had time to say good-bye.
Gail was born on February 2, 1960 in Newport, Rhode Island and she was the last of the five children of Mary and Frank King. Her loving mother passed in late 2019 and Gail and Mary are now reunited and enjoying God’s blessings.
Gail is survived by her father Frank King (Covington, LA) and her two loving children, Marshall Stock (Sara Rose) (Fairfield, CT) and Sally Stock (David Critzman) (Norwalk, CT). She is specially survived by her first grandchild, Bengi Critzman, yet months from her first birthday.
Gail is also survived by her loving partner, Gordon Serou and her four siblings: Franklin Gary King (Susan) (Palm Beach Gardens, FL); Nancy Ray (Charlie) (Delmar, NY); Henry King (Cary) (Metairie, LA); and Michelle Cartwright (Mark) (Cocoa Beach, FL). Gail also had a caring relationship with her first husband and father of their children, Fred Stock (Norwalk, CT), with whom she shared many wonderful years.
Lovingly known as “Auntie Gail,” Gail will also be greatly missed by her nieces and nephews, Catherine King, Heather King (Brett), Maile Ray, Matthew Cartwright, Marguerite King Marschner (Richard), Lucy King, Spencer King, Miles Cartwright (Brittany), and Marykate Cartwright, as well as her great nieces and nephews, Franklin Ethan and Jackson, Gray and Henry, and Adelaide and Cullen.
Gail lived most of her life in New Orleans and loved the city like no other. She graduated from Ursuline Academy and there she was the source of much fun. She later graduated from Loyola University in New Orleans, her best place to be.
Gail was an adoring and caring stay-at-home Mom. Most of this time, the family lived in Wilton, CT, a town where Gail has kept many dear friends. Gail loved being there for Marshall and Sally, and often many neighborhood children as well. She adored her children and always wanted the very best for them. She thought of them daily, remembering the best of stories and fun times.
In her later years, Gail pursued work as a paralegal. She worked hard to obtain her paralegal degree and for many years she worked as the paralegal at the Law Offices of Gordon P. Serou, Jr.
Gail will be remembered as a most loving and caring daughter to her mother and father. For many years, she never missed her daily phone calls and weekly visits. For her children, siblings, and nieces and nephews, she was the special one, who was always there to share her love and a smile and hope, even in the hardest of times.
Gail also loved her animals. Often her home, especially in Wilton, CT cared for many more different species of pets than most could imagine. But, she especially loved her dogs, who dutifully travelled with her from Wilton to New Orleans and gave her many years of great joy. “Grits Mary” only recently joined Gail. Just a mere puppy, she is surely missing Gail too.
For her friends, Gail was fun and good times. She especially loved her old New Orleans’ friends, Janet Klienberger and Lisa Mauberret, as well as her lively new “tennis group” friends. If you were so lucky to become a friend of Gail’s, she was always your friend. Bad times or good times, you could be sure that Gail would be there for you.
Gail will be deeply missed by so many. She left too soon for all who loved her. Now, we will look to the heavens to have our lasting communion with her.
Memorial services are planned at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 S. New Hampshire St., Covington, LA 70433 at 11:00 AM on Friday, June 4, 2021. A reception to follow in Holzhalb Hall.
