Gabriela Elwira Kornecka's Obituary
Gabriela Kornecka, age 73, of Slidell, Louisiana, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. She was born on October 30, 1952, in Gdansk, Poland.
She is survived by her daughter, Patrycja Kornecka Black; grandchildren, Bruce William Black, Andrew Grant Black, and JohnPaul Tadeusz Black; and great-grandson, William Wolfgang Black. She is also survived by her siblings, Krzysztof Jerzy Knap and Lidia Joanna Kopiejc; and many extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jerzy Knap and Elwira Knap.
Gabriela immigrated to the United States from Poland in 1986, where she spent many years as a homemaker. She was a strong-willed and independent woman who navigated life with determination. She remained closely connected to her Polish roots, continuing to honor the language, foods, and traditions of her homeland. She had deep interests in natural healing, herbs, and alternative approaches to wellness, which she often shared in an effort to be helpful to others. She will be remembered by those who crossed her path for the care and helpfulness she offered.
In lieu of flowers, masses offered in memory of Gabriela Kornecka are preferred.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the memorial service on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church, 1050 Robert Boulevard, Slidell, Louisiana, with visitation beginning at 9:45 AM. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Abbey Cemetery, 75376 River Road, St. Benedict, Louisiana.
