Franklin Theodore King's Obituary
Frank King (98) passed away peacefully at Christwood Retirement Community on August 8, 2021. Born and raised in Lebanon, New Hampshire, he graduated from United States Naval Academy in 1945 and served as an officer in the U.S. Submarine Force, commanding two submarines. After retiring from the U.S. Navy, he moved to New Orleans, where he had a successful second 25-year career in the oil and gas service business working for McDermott International, Inc. and Newpark Resources, Inc.
Frank was an honorable and loving man. Whatever his job, he worked extremely hard, cared for others, and always sought to do his very best. His family was his paramount concern and, to the day of his death, asked his children and grandchildren to always love and care for one another. Frank was a man of great faith and a long-time member of Christ Episcopal Church in Covington, LA.
Frank was predeceased by his loving wife, Mary, and his youngest daughter, Gail King Stock. He is survived by four children: Gary (Susan) King, Nancy Ray (Charlie Underwood), Henry (Cary) King, and Mary Michelle (Mark) Cartwright; 11 grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
The family extends its deepest thanks and appreciation to the wonderful staff of Christwood for their excellent care and attention to Frank.
In view of COVID transmission concerns and Frank’s wishes, there will be no public memorial services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christwood Foundation, 100 Christwood Blvd., Covington, Louisiana 70433.
