It is August and for some reason my thoughts have turned to s dear friend. I miss his cheerful weekly phone calls, I miss him stopping at town hall to help me when I watered the plants, I miss his generous and caring nature. This world has lost a person who genuinely cared about others and gave so much to the town and river that he so dearly loved in the research of there history. He had a way of making everyone he met feel very special and welcomed them aboard his lovely vintage yacht just the way he welcomed them into his life.
My heart goes out to the family of Rusty. May the Lord give you peace during this hard time.
My thoughts and prayers are with the entire family.
Such sadness.....Rusty was an awesome man!!!
You will be in my prayers and thoughts, Cathy and Brooke.
Cathy Didn't get to see Rusty nearly enough in the past years, but each time we saw each other the years just slipped away. We were back again at CHS laughing and talking about the 'good old days'. The Class of '67 will never be the same again.
Please know that you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. May God's grace help you through the difficult days ahead.
First met Rusty as a young camper at Summit camps in NC. I was about 12 at the time. He picked us up at the ashville airport in a VW bus that did about 40 mph tops. The guy could fix anything. Later we did a great canoe trip on the Rio Grande with Kells Hogan. He will be missed. Our prayers go out to Cathy and family members
Sorry to hear about your loss. I didn't know Rusty was ill.

The Tchefuncte has lost its best salesman ever. There will be no replacement. People laugh and smile when in the company of Rusty and Cathy. WE will miss him. Thanks for taking such good care of the boat that I grew up on 50 years ago .
We were classmates and friends with Rusty at Covington High and thoroughly enjoyed and looked forward to his entries and talking to him on Facebook. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Rusty and his family. We are so sorry for your loss.
