Frank Lorenzo Pezold Jr's Obituary
Frank Lorenzo Pezold, Jr., age 91 years, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, in Leonardtown, MD.
Frank was a native of Jefferson, LA, and lived most of his life in south Louisiana near the brackish bayous and bays where he loved to fish and trawl for shrimp. He is a former resident of New Orleans, LA, Pearl River, LA, Covington, LA, Madisonville, LA, Kenner, LA and Milton, FL. As a child of the Great Depression, he learned the value of hard work early. At the age of 14, he could level the family home, pour concrete sidewalks, and much more.
These skills prepared him well for service to his country as a Construction Recruit (Seabee) in the US Navy during the early 1950s. He was honorably discharged at age 22, following the birth of his first child. After a four-year apprenticeship, he became an electrician and joined the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 130, of which he was a proud member for 67 years.
When he wasn’t working, he was fishing or trawling all over southeast Louisiana. He later developed a great interest in genealogy and fished libraries and archives instead to produce an extensive document of his family’s ancestry, from New Orleans back to Bavaria, Cuba and beyond.
Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Glenairah Amelia Riedlinger and Frank Lorenzo Pezold, Sr.; beloved stepfather Ulysses Joseph Lee Riedlinger; sister, Elaine Anita Ensminger; wife Virginia Louise “Annie” Cole; wife Betty Lou McGovern; and son David Brian Pezold.
He is survived by his son Frank L. Pezold, III, of Corpus Christi, TX, daughters Laura A. Gallagher of Leonardtown, MD, Cathy M. Edwards of Milton, FL, and Sharon R. Fitch of Watkins Glen, NY, all of whom he shared with Eva Treadway, also deceased. He is also survived by some 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren scattered across these United States.
