You wonderful people have all my sympathy for your loss. Frank was a wonderful man. He and my dad had a great neighborly friendship. Good friends who would help one another when needed. I have the best childhood memories of all ya'll. I remember the time when Frank wanted all the junk removed from under the house. So who better to fulfill this task, but a few of us kids from the block to crawl around under the house and drag all the stuff out to the curb for trash day. We were all rewarded with cash & ice cream. And I remember the real log cabin!
I have recently moved back to Rocheblave St.. My wife and I have mostly restored the Vega home of 3 generations. Bob Martini still lives across the street.

I was sorry to read about the passing of Mr. Birdsong today; my understanding is that our families go back to Mayersville, MS, and before that to Europe. My great grandfather was Simon Herzog who settled in Mayersville in the mid-1800's and my grandfather, Will Herzog was born there in the1880's. My father, Alex Herzog, grew up in Lake Providence, LA, across the Mississippi River from Mayersville. In our hearts the Herzog family celebrate the beautiful life of Mr. Birdsong.

I am so sorry. It was my great honor to know Mr. Birdsong the last several years of his life. Rarely has there been such a model of integrity and honor. He is already missed and I will remember him most fondly. He is finally reunited with his beautiful bride and once again enjoying the sweetest smile I have ever seen.

Frank, Sally Jane and Edmond, Lolli and I wanted to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. Frank and Sally were among the most sincere and truly wonderful people that you meet during your all too brief lifetime. I think of them most when remembering the neighborhood get togethers at the Owens house.
