Florence Coyle Treadway's Obituary
Florence Coyle Treadway died peacefully on December 27, 2020. She was preceded in death by her daughter Carolyn Coyle Treadway, as well as her parents Charles Goodrich Coyle and Florence Abaunza Coyle Morris, and brother Charles Goodrich Coyle.
Flo-Flo was born September 3, 1929 and grew up in New Orleans. She graduated from the Academy of the Sacred Heart and attended Wellesley College, University of New Orleans, and Mercer University. She was an active member of the Junior League of New Orleans and in the mid 1970’s was one of the first paralegals in the city before becoming the Director of Longue Vue House and Gardens.
Flo-Flo is survived by her children William Lomax Treadway III (Frances), Colonel Charles Goodrich Coyle Treadway (Rebecca), and Alexander McCarroll Treadway (Cecily). In addition, she is survived by grandchildren William Lomax Treadway IV, Elizabeth Treadway Garrison (Dustin), Charles Goodrich Coyle Treadway Jr, Lee Treadway Pittman (Michael), Helen Allyne Treadway, and Louisa Margaret Van Praagh Treadway and great grandchildren Ella Grace Treadway, William Kayser Garrison, Eleanor Frances Garrison, and Evelyn Jane Pittman.
Flo was a loving and supportive mother, devout Christian, and beloved friend who reveled in art, travel, and, most importantly, her large and gregarious family.
A memorial service will be held on a future date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Jesuit Spirituality Center at Grand Coteau.
