Fabio Jesus Canton's Obituary
It is with great sadness that the family of Fabio Jesus Canton announces his passing on Friday, July 20, 2018. He was 74 years of age at the time of his death.
A native of Merida, Mexico; Fabio was born on February 20, 1944. He moved to the United States at the age of 8 and was raised in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. Fabio was a graduate of St. Dominic Elementary, Jesuit High School and Loyola University. In 2017, Fabio retired after a successful 51-year career as a CPA in the New Orleans region.
Fabio spent many years volunteering on the board of NAMI New Orleans, which led to him being chosen as a recipient of the People’s Health Champion Award in 2015. He was also an active member of the Knights of Columbus at St. Jane’s Catholic Church in Abita Springs, Louisiana and served on the Board of the Manresa Retreat House to which he attended for 48 years. Fabio was a devout Catholic who enjoyed community service, spending time with family and friends, and avidly rooting for his New Orleans Saints.
Fabio is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Georgia. He will be forever and affectionately remembered by his children (Lisa, Lynn, Julie, Sabrina, Hugh, and Blake), grandchildren (Brad, Sister Marie Therese - Nicole, Victoria, Ken, Bailey, Bryce, Aaron, Dominic, Briana, Brennan, & the late Maria Theresa), great-grand daughter (Rayne), siblings (Mary Beatriz, Anna Maria, Albert Joseph, and Maria Cecilia), and nieces/nephews (Michael, Michelle, Stacy, Jacklyn, Austin, Cayla, Ashton, Cassidy, Piker, & Juliana ). Fabio is predeceased by his parents (Fabio and Beatriz Canton).
Relitives and friends of the family are invited to a visitation On Tuesday, July 24 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at E.J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W. 21st. Ave., Covington, LA 70433. A Rosary and Mass of Christian Burial will follow in memorial celebration of Fabio at St. Jane’s Catholic Church, 72040 Maple St., Abita Springs, LA 70420 beginning at 11:30 a. m. with Father Michael Champagne presiding.
